Control System Works is a web-based framework for building HMI/SCADA/EMI/process control solutions using Micrsoft .NET and Microsoft Silverlight. Control System Works offers: open system with unlimited customization capabilities; powerful contemporary graphics; works across network boundaries and firewalls; zero administration client; rich and transparent configuration capabilities; high-availability.CS Works consists of two major parts: server framework and client framework.

CS Works server framework is a set of highly customizable server-side components that: provide access to arbitrary data sources through a simple yet powerful pluggable provider model (OPC, PLCs, databases); perform livedata, alarm and historical data processing; allow developers to create custom data processing components.

Server framework functionality is exposed to custom data processing components through web services and WCF. All configuration settings are stored in the correspondent config files and can beeasily manipulated from applications or scripts. Server framework has components that perform data stream multiplexing, giving a lot of possibilities for redundancy and partitioning.

CS Works client framework is a set of Microsoft Silverlight-based components that:
perform data exchange with CS Works server components through web services;
implement some useful graphics controls (tanks, numeric displays, alarm summaries etc).
Application developers can use CS Works client framework when building zero-administration Silverlight clients for CS Works server-based solutions. Microsoft Silverlight with its powerful graphics engine and unlimited possibilities for writing custom components is the hosting environment for CS Works-powered client applications.

CS Works Demo application included in the installation package uses OPC.
